FAQ

  • No. Physiotherapists are regulated health professionals and therefore you do not need a doctor’s referral. We do encourage open communication with your doctor(s) and you can let us know at your first visit if you would like them to be included in your correspondence. Some extended health care plans require a physician’s note to have physiotherapy expenses reimbursed.

  • We always schedule our initial assessments for 60 minutes. This allows the therapist to gain a more detailed picture of your condition from the assessment and allow for treatment. Depending on the nature of your injury the subsequent visits can range from 30 minutes up to one hour in length. The number and length of follow-up visits will be discussed at your initial assessment.

  • At the first physiotherapy appointment, your physiotherapist will take a full history, complete various assessment measures, and provide initial treatment. Once the assessment is completed, your physiotherapist will collaborate with you to create a program that is tailored to your specific needs and goals. This will be discussed in detail with you during your initial visit.

  • It is important to be comfortable and to wear clothes that allow for movement. Shorts, t-shirts, and good supportive footwear work well.

  • Watsu is a form of hydrotherapy based on the principles of Shiatsu massage. Watsu is used to alleviate pain and tension. It is also used to enhance physical movement and joint mobility. In contrast to a traditional hydrotherapy session, Watsu is a passive hydrotherapy modality, involving the therapist guiding your body through the water.

  • During a WATSU® session, the therapist is in the water with you. The therapist gently moves your body in specific motions, which may include gentle twisting, rocking or cradling and stretching. The resistance of water soothes physical tension, releases tightness in your muscles and encourages relaxation, which supports overall health.
