No. Physiotherapists are regulated health professionals and therefore you do not need a doctor’s referral. We do encourage open communication with your doctor(s) and you can let us know at your first visit if you would like them to be included in your correspondence. Some extended health care plans require a physician’s note to have physiotherapy expenses reimbursed.

Depending on the nature of your injury the subsequent visits can range from 30 minutes up to one hour in length. The number and length of follow-up visits will be discussed at your initial assessment.

At the first physiotherapy appointment, your physiotherapist will take a full history, complete various assessment measures, and provide initial treatment. Once the assessment is completed, your physiotherapist will collaborate with you to create a program that is tailored to your specific needs and goals. This will be discussed in detail with you during your initial visit.

Hydrotherapy consists of guided active and passive exercises in the heated water. All hydrotherapy sessions are 1-on-1 with a physiotherapist. Prior to entering the pool, all clients are asked to rinse off in the pool room shower if possible. We ask that on the day of a hydrotherapy session, you refrain from using any lotions, oils, creams or hair products. The clinic has towels for you to use or you can bring your own.
