What we do.

Pilates is a low-impact form of exercise that focuses on strengthening muscles while improving postural alignment, flexibility, and overall body awareness. Pilates sessions use controlled breathing to support smooth, fluid movement and activation in the body.

Types of Pilates:

1. Mat Pilates:

  • Performed on a flat mat, using just the body’s weight for resistance.

  • Exercises are typically performed on the floor and focus on core strength, stability, and flexibility.

  • Props like resistance bands, small balls, and Pilates rings may be used to enhance the workout.

2. Reformer Pilates:

  • Exercises are performed on a piece of equipment called a Reformer, which is a bed-like structure with a sliding carriage, springs for resistance, and straps for various exercises.

  • The Reformer allows for more varied and dynamic movements, offering both support and resistance, which can enhance muscle toning and flexibility.

Benefits of Pilates:

Pilates offers a wide range of benefits, particularly for core strength, flexibility, and posture. Some key benefits include:

1. Core Strength: Pilates focuses on strengthening the deep muscles of the abdomen, lower back, and pelvis. A strong core is essential for good posture, balance, and overall stability.

2. Improved Posture: By increasing strength and awareness of body alignment, Pilates helps improve posture, which can alleviate pain and prevent future injuries.

3. Flexibility: Pilates exercises encourage elongation of muscles, helping to increase flexibility in the spine, hips, and limbs.

4. Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation: Pilates is often recommended for injury prevention or as part of rehabilitation, as it strengthens muscles without putting undue strain on joints.

5. Muscle Toning: Pilates targets both large and small muscle groups, helping to tone and sculpt the body.

6. Balance and Coordination: Regular practice can improve balance and coordination by focusing on controlled movement and body awareness.

7. Stress Relief: Pilates involves deep breathing and focused movement, which can help reduce stress and improve mental clarity.
